Horse Footing

Horses have highly sensitive legs. They need a proper footing. Otherwise, the horses undergo heavy amount of stress. The horse footing should be properly planned to give maximum comfort to the horses. An ideal horse footing should be decided, taking into consideration the following points.
  • The horse footing should minimize the chances of concussion.
  • The type of event in which the horses will be participating should be considered. Different events will require totally different horse footings.
  • The arena, the basic nature of the ground or the top soil and the climate of the place have to be studied.

Improper horse footing is likely to cause serious bone disorders in horses. Joint problems and osteoarthritis are the most common afflictions that are caused by inappropriate footing.
