Rubber Arena Footing
Rubber arena footings are the latest advancement in horse arena footing technology. These arena footings are prepared by mixing high grade rubber with fibers, wax and the best quality silica sand in exact proportions. These rubber arena footings function like natural turf arena footings but are much superior to them in several aspects. The rubber arena footings are virtually dust free. This would benefit the horse and the rider immensely. The arena and the surrounding areas would remain clean, with lesser effort needed for cleaning. Further, the serious lung condition known as silicosis that is caused by dusty conditions arising from the breathing in of fine silica dust is completely avoided in rubber arena footings.
At the same time, the rubber arena footing material is prepared in a slightly different fashion for areas near the equator that have higher daytime temperatures. The amount of wax is reduced or no wax is used in these combinations. This ensures an arena surface that is not slippery. Besides, the rubber arena footing is recommended in colors other than black for such areas, because black attracts maximum heat compared to other colors. The building up of the heat is thus reduced. The mixing of silica prevents excessive heat build up and also keeps the cost of the rubber arena footing material within affordable limits.
